The Military Order of the Cootie (MOC) is the VFW's Honor Degree, an auxiliary organization founded in 1920 to bring comfort and laughter to hospitalized veterans and support the VFW National Home for Children. Known for their distinctive red hats, goofy pins, and outward display of boxer shorts, MOC members embody the motto "Keep 'em Smiling in Beds of White" through visits, entertainment, and charitable activities, offering fun and cheer to veterans in need. Membership is a distinction for VFW members who have demonstrated significant leadership and service.
