OUR MISSION

Our Mission: VFW Post 12235 in Salado, Texas, is dedicated to honoring the service and sacrifice of America’s veterans by fostering camaraderie, advocating for their rights, and supporting their families. We strive to serve our community through outreach, education, and volunteer initiatives that uphold the values of patriotism, service, and remembrance. Guided by the VFW’s commitment that "No One Does More for Veterans,” we work to preserve the legacy of those who have served and inspire future generations to honor our nation’s heroes.

Our Vision: VFW Post 12235 envisions a thriving community where veterans are respected, supported, and empowered to lead fulfilling lives. We strive to be a cornerstone of service in Salado, fostering unity between veterans and civilians, inspiring patriotism in future generations, and ensuring that the sacrifices of our nation’s heroes are never forgotten.

Commander's Corner

Commander Minnie Whitzel

As we celebrate this Christmas season, I want to take a moment—on behalf of our officers and members—to wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year.

Christmas is a time for reflection, gratitude, and togetherness. It reminds us of the importance of faith, family, service, and compassion—values that are deeply rooted in our military experience and in the mission of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. While this season brings joy for many, we also remember our fellow veterans who may be spending the holidays away from loved ones, facing hardship, or carrying the weight of past service. Please know that you are not forgotten—you are part of our VFW family.

This year, I am especially grateful for the continued support of our community, our partners, and the families who stand beside our veterans every day. Your generosity, encouragement, and presence allow our Post to continue serving veterans, honoring our fallen, and strengthening the bonds that hold our community together.

As we look ahead to the New Year, may we carry forward the spirit of Christmas—service before self, kindness toward one another, and an unwavering commitment to those who have worn our nation’s uniform.

From our VFW family to yours, may your Christmas be filled with peace, joy, and hope.

Merry Christmas, and thank you for your continued support of America’s veterans.
