Annette Whittenberger
Post Adjutant - Army
Annette Whittenberger served in the U.S. Army from 1999 until 2016, retiring at the rank of Major. She held leadership positions as a Chemical Officer in both peacetime and combat environments, serving on Active Duty for over 17 years, including deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, and completing assignments across the United States and overseas.
During her service, she deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, mentoring soldiers in high-stress environments and leading diverse teams in a male-dominated field. Her awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (with oak leaf clusters), and numerous commendations recognizing her leadership and dedication.
Annette has been an active member of the VFW since 2023, serving as the Post Adjutant for VFW Post 12235 in Salado, Texas. She is committed to building veteran camaraderie, expanding community outreach, and amplifying veterans’ voices through media and storytelling.
Annette lives in Killeen, Texas, and is the mother of two and a proud grandmother. In addition to her VFW work, she is the co-founder and Editor-in-Chief of Veteran Lifestyle Magazine, an international speaker, author, podcaster, and mental health advocate. She enjoys music production, attending live events, and spending time along the California coast.
