OUR MISSION

Our Mission: VFW Post 12235 in Salado, Texas, is dedicated to honoring the service and sacrifice of America’s veterans by fostering camaraderie, advocating for their rights, and supporting their families. We strive to serve our community through outreach, education, and volunteer initiatives that uphold the values of patriotism, service, and remembrance. Guided by the VFW’s commitment that "No One Does More for Veterans,” we work to preserve the legacy of those who have served and inspire future generations to honor our nation’s heroes.

Our Vision: VFW Post 12235 envisions a thriving community where veterans are respected, supported, and empowered to lead fulfilling lives. We strive to be a cornerstone of service in Salado, fostering unity between veterans and civilians, inspiring patriotism in future generations, and ensuring that the sacrifices of our nation’s heroes are never forgotten.

Commander Minnie Whitzel

February is a month rich with moments that remind us why remembrance, service, and camaraderie matter—values that sit at the heart of our VFW Post.

This month, we will observe two important VFW opportunities. On February 15, we honor the Sinking of the USS Maine, a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made by American Sailors and the event that forever changed the course of our nation’s history. Later in the month, on February 28, we commemorate the Liberation of Kuwait, marking the successful conclusion of coalition efforts during Operation Desert Storm and honoring the service of those who answered the call during that conflict.

To recognize both of these significant events, our Post will gather at BeeMaRosas Winery for a time of remembrance, reflection, and fellowship. This setting provides a welcoming environment for our members, families, and community partners to come together, share stories, and honor those who served before us.

Events like these reinforce the importance of preserving our history, educating our community, and strengthening the bonds between veterans and citizens alike. I encourage all members to attend, participate, and help us continue the VFW’s mission of honoring the past while building a strong future.

Thank you for your continued dedication to our Post and to the values we represent.
